“David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men, saying, ‘Behold, David seeks to harm you’?”(1 Sam 24:9 NAS)
David was speaking to King Saul and was asking why are you listen to people with their false accusations and assumptions. They are offering no true or proof that I want to harm you. They are creating discord and discrediting me and causing you to chase me to destroy me. “Saul mustered his troops for battle and set out .. to lay siege to David and his men” (1 Sam 23:8 MSG).
Likewise we must be careful with our conversation and our false accusatory remarks. “A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell”(James 3:6 MSG). Our assumptions could destroy family, friendship and fellowships…”a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers”(Prov 6:19 NIV). We don’t to be refer as a person with a fork tongue. “Everyone talks in lie language; Lies slide off their oily lips. They doubletalk with forked tongues”(Psa 12:2 MSG).
So, we will spend our Christian journey find ways to build up the body of faith as God does. “Therefore encourage one another and buildup one another, just as you also are doing” (I Thes 5:11 NAS). God doesn’t want us to engage in assumptions and false accusations but to create a harmony of unity and community. “Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good…- Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle”(Romans 12:9-10 MSG).
Lord keep me await from foolish talk and don’t me say things about people without any proof. Guard my tongue and heart and let me live peaceful with my brothers and sisters.
God’s Peace and Good Journey!
