President Trump’s decision last week to pull out of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change confirmed what I had always suspected. The decision confirmed exactly what I knew and now know. The Trump Administration’s only claim to fame is still the trashing of President Barack Obama. This is a White Supremacist element masquerading as “patriotism” and “nationalism.” Everyone knows that President Obama worked diligently on an international scale with more than 190 nations in order hammer out this agreement. It was done in harmony with America’s historical allies and other nations that are not as close to the United States such as China. Speaking of China; this nation is now poised to lead the world in renewable energy. America took a significant step to the rear of the class. Strangely enough, the only reason to make such a move is the racialized anti-Obama ideology. An ideology blinds its adherents. When a detrimental ideology achieves power, great destruction can be wrought in the name of doing something positive. For example, American soldiers during the Vietnam War claimed they had to burn down villages in order to save them. Trump claims that he believes in human induced climate change. Even while pulling out of the Paris Accord, he claimed that he would immediately begin renegotiating a new accord. The Germans, Italians, and French immediately shot down this asinine notion. However, it was not a notion. It was an attempt cover ideological foolishness with a cloak of governmental legitimacy. Trump also claimed that he was pulling out in order to save American jobs. Coal miners are not the only workers in America. If the coal industry is on it last leg, yet refuses to clean up it act and seek to retrain its workers, they should not be allowed to continue to pollute the planet and place human existence at risk. Hillary had a better idea. Unfortunately, it was dismissed. Moving in lockstep with Trump on his decision to pull out of the accord was Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. In case you have forgotten, it was Senator McConnell who pledged to make President Obama a one term President long before any Obama policy was initiated in the United States. Moreover, let us not forget that it was Senator McConnell, acting in his capacity as Senate Majority Leader, who denied President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court a hearing. That is why history will forever record this episode as “the stolen Supreme Court seat.”
President Trump also decided not to advance the Trans Pacific Partnership with Asian nations. Once again, President Obama invested considerable political capital to hammer out agreements with Asian countries in an attempt not cedes Asia to China and extend the American presence in the world beyond a carrier battle group. Clinton was pulled to renounce the partnership due to labor’s opposition to the partnership. Nevertheless, Trump’s decision is simply to realize that Obama supported it; therefore, opposed the partnership.
Before General Michael Flynn was ousted as National Security Advisor, he interrupted a White House press conference simply to say Iran is being put on notice. His remarks were clearly out of context. His fervency was palpable. What is clear is that he was voicing the will of the President. Donald Trump campaigned on stating that the Nuclear Agreement reached with Iran was a very “bad deal.” His argument on this account, just as his entire political life has done, begs the question that if President Obama did it, it is the worst thing ever. Based on this faulty racist logic, we can rest assured that the Iranian Nuclear Agreement is somewhere on President Trump’s bucket list.
Candidate Trump praised Putin over Obama. Other Republicans began to do the same. Putin and Obama did not get along. Trump chose Putin over Obama. In turn, Putin chose Trump over Clinton. As of this writing, Republicans are still in a racist quandary of over the Affordable Care Act. Repeal and replace Obama care has been their mantra sense 2010. It reminds me of what Dr. King once remarked, “truth forever on the scaffold; wrong forever on the throne, yet that scaffold sways the future…” Keep in mind that the Trump Justice Department does not plan to protect Voting Rights or hold police accountable for the shooting of the unarmed. If you would like to become a political expert on the Trump Administration and figure out what his policies will promote, all you have to do is look at those things that President Obama supported. If Obama’s signature is on it, the current President will be against it.
