Do you think your dreams are unrealistic? Do you think that they are nothing but a fantasy? Let’s distinguish between the two. A fantasy is something you imagine but don’t believe it can ever happen. A dream is something that you think about and believe it can happen.
Aside from the obvious distinction, the link is believing. When you believe that you can make your dream come true, it becomes a goal. Once it is a goal, it is now tangible. You can formulate a plan to achieve your goal. You can go through the steps of execution to achieve your goal.
A dream can become a reality because of your belief in it and the effort you put forth to make it come to pass. Fantasy is what you don’t believe can happen. You may feel that there is nothing that you can do to make it happen.
A fantasy would be to imagine that you can fly like a bird. If you don’t believe that there is nothing you could do to make it happen then it is a fantasy. Now take that same thought of flying like a bird but treat it like a dream. You believe that you will be able to fly like a bird. I know that sounds crazy but read on.
Believing that you can fly like a bird makes your dream a goal. You then put a plan together. The plan could consist of understanding engineering and physics so that you could develop an apparatus that would enable you to fly. Still sound crazy? Is it a fantasy?
The idea of planes was one man’s dream and another one’s fantasy.
It boils down to this: belief backed with ingenuity, persistence, motivation and a strong will of desire, anything can be accomplished.
So I ask you: Do you have a dream or a fantasy?
