Cardio workouts are great for giving yourself more energy and more endurance as you pursue your fitness goals, not to mention it can help tremendously in relieving stress. Here are but a few simple maneuvers you can do to get that heart racing.
Bicycles – This not only a great cardio workout, but it will help develop your core and make it burn. Lie down on the ground with your back straight and with your arms behind your head. You are going to lift your legs up and perform a pedaling motion as you would a bike, as you bring your left knee back, you will touch it with your right elbow, and vice versa your right knee with your left elbow. Keep this continuous motion going for 30 reps on each size to give yourself a great workout.
Jump n Tuck – This workout will make you feel like a nimble cat or Spiderman! Stand up and bend your knees a little bit, once your knees are bent, jump up as high as you can. While you are in the air, bring in your knees as close as you can towards your chest all the while sticking your hands up straight. Try to land on your and when you do hit the ground, bring your arms back down. Try for a goal of 12 jumps and your legs will be definitely feeling it.
High Knee Runs – With this workout you can either run in place or run for real while doing it. Like with most cardio exercises, the higher rate you do the actions, the best workout you will get. While you run, you are going to bring your knees up as high as they can go, making sure to alternate them. Aim to do this for 45 – 60 seconds.
Push up Jumps – This is a workout you may want to avoid if you have trouble doing regular push ups. Perform the basic movements you would do for a basic push up, lowering your body down while keeping your back as straight as possible. When you push yourself up and reach the very top of the push up, you are going to push your entire body off the ground and when you land, lower yourself back down to push yourself back up again off the ground. Try to get 10 push-ups in before you stop, but if you cannot make it, just try to do as many as you can.
