C.J King was born in Clayton County, Georgia on December 26th, 1992. Born into a musical family, C.J was constantly surrounded by musicians at church and at home. Ironically enough, he was not allowed to listen to hip hop until the age of 14. It was then that he fell in love with the classic T-Bone album “Gospelalphamegafunkyboogiediscomusic”. From then on, C.J King fell deep into the world of hip hop through artists like Mase, Cross Movement, Ziklag Boyz, and Grits.
At fourteen years old C.J decided to make his first song to the Yung Joc instrumental “It’s going down”. After performing it at church, he began to feel as if this was something he enjoyed just as much as sports. However, the music was not taken seriously until C.J moved to Virginia to attend Liberty University. His pursuit of hip hop was further encouraged after a surprising amount of love was received after passing his CDs out on campus out of his backpack.
Four years into his college career, C.J was the first artist to be awarded a scholarship for hip hop in Liberty University’s history. Through the experiences brought forth by Liberty University, C.J grew tremendously as an artist and was able to perform regularly in front of crowds of thousands. In 2015 C.J got married to his college sweetheart, graduated in 2016, and is now actively pursuing the music alongside the powerhouse C1 Management.
