“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win” (1 Corinthians 9:24 NAS)
Derek Redmond ran in the 92′ Olympics and was injured during his run. He fell and was hurt, but he got back up and started to limp on the one leg. His father came from the stands and helped him finish the race. Simply, his injury did not keep him down.
Likewise, in life we stumble and even fall, but we should have godly fortitude to get back up and keep running. We are commissioned by God to finish our assignment and responsibility. “This is the only race worth running. I’ve run hard right to the finish, believed all the way” (2 Timothy 4:7 MSG). We should never allow our failures, faults or follies to cause us to permanently stay down. We must quickly repent, confess our wrongs and make amends with God and with people we have wronged. “Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with” (James 5:16 MSG).
So, get up and run…don’t quit! Don’t miss you purpose, press towards the mark of God, reach your goals and achieve the things God has for you. “I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back” (Philippians 3:14 MSG).
Lord I am getting up from a place of apathy and running towards my future. Striving to reach and obtain the things you have prepared for me. This is my time to go after my purpose and cultivate my hopes in you. I understand that I will at tie stumble and even fall, but as long as I know you got me, I will get back up, and run the race with endurance and perseverance (see Hebrews 12:1) and finish the race you’ve set before me. With you Father I am more than a conqueror (see Romans 8:37) and I can and will achieve my goal. Amen.
