Let’s Spring Clean!
1. Check the labels on all of your medications for the expiration date. Throw out any old and expired medications. Some medications undergo chemical changes over time, which may actually make them dangerous.
2. Proper disposal of medications: Do not flush down the toilet! Bad for our environment. FDA recommends removing the medications from the bottles, putting the meds in a plastic bag, seal, and dispose. Remove personal information off off labels and recycle bottles. Your local pharmacy may also have a drug-take-back program as well. Please dispose safely!
3. Take inventory of all of the drugs that you are currently taking, both prescription and over-the-counter medications. The more drugs that you take, the greater chance that there may be an adverse interaction. Schedule an appointment with your doctor to discuss to ensure you are only taking what you need.
