Who are we?
This question was asked of me some time ago by a fellow brother in Christ. Although I could not answer this question right away, this question echoed in my spirit until one day, the answer came to me.
Nothing Like Revelation Knowledge
It was a Sunday Morning; my family and I were on our way to the worship service. Unknown to my family, I was not only hearing their voices as we conversed in the car, but was constantly hearing this question repeatedly. We finally arrive at the church house. We went into the church house to prepare for the worship service. As I customarily do, I went to the podium with my bible prior to the start of the service to spend some alone time with Holy Spirit. Let me remind you that I am still hearing this question, “who are we”? echoing in my spirit. This question is speaking specifically of those who are in Christ Jesus. Once I get to the podium, it is my custom to find a scripture to share that will encourage and inspire the saints to praise God and enter a place of worship to receive the word from the Lord this service. As I heard this echo for the last time, I then randomly opened my bible and it opened to a place in the book of Psalm. My eyes immediately went to the pages and I saw Psalm 82. I went to turn the page but a strong check activated in my spirit and I had to stay in that place. I am a bible reader. I’ve read Psalm 82 several times before so I rationed in my mind that this doesn’t fit what I’m looking for as it relates to inspiring the saints to praise God. But that was not the plan of Holy Spirit for leading me to Psalm 82. He was leading me to Psalm 82 to reveal to me the answer to the question that was echoing in my spirit. This experience was the beginning of a revelation of who we are engrafted into, in my spirit and unfolding in my understanding.
The Power of Knowing
To know who we are will transform our lives and alter the way we approach our faith life.
WE ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST!
Believers need to know what this declaration truly means, then we need to believe this truth to the degree of living it spontaneously. Living in the power of God begins with knowing. Knowing is the bridge that connects potential of purpose, to the fulfillment of purpose. Knowing is the currency of the Kingdom. Knowing is an ingredient to the prevention of destruction. Knowing is the starting blocks to building wealth. A successful faith life begins with what we know about who we are in Christ Jesus.
Believers often wonder of God’s Dwelling place. Psalm 82 gives us one of those places where he dwells. Verse one says God “Standeth” in the congregation (the midst of His Family) of the mighty (His mighty warriors, strong ones) and he judges amongst the gods.
The word ‘god’ there has a small ‘g’, which represents God speaking of those who come under his authority and function as gods in the earth. This revelation is very important for us to understand in this passage of Scripture. God is giving us an idea of exactly where he abides, exactly who he’s speaking to and exactly what he desires to say.
Standing, Gods Command Center
The first word I want to bring your attention to is the word “stand. The word in the Hebrew is a military term which means ‘to set up a military command station’. This reveals to us that God wants us to create an environment where order and strategy can be planned. So, when God is saying that he stands amid the congregation of the mighty ones, he’s giving us a picture of what takes place and what he desires to do amongst his mighty ones. God desires to set up a command station and begin to give out methodologies, strategies, decrees, wisdom, insight, and warfare tactics. All the information that make it possible for us to occupy the territory. What a powerful picture as it relates to our relationship with the Lord of hosts! In case you don’t know God as the Lord of hosts, this name speaks to the God of war. This name embodies the warrior nature of God Almighty. For the record, this name is used twice as much as any other name that describes the character of God. Our God is a God of war, which means WE are a people of war.
Our Role in Society
The very first action that takes place is God setting up a command station amid his mighty believers. The Lord of Host then begins to govern and litigate amongst them.
Don’t allow the word judgment to cause you to think punishment, disaster, wrongdoing, and things that are not pleasing God. The word for judgment here means, to litigate
As God begins to litigate amongst his mighty ones, which is his governing body in the earth, he points out their mistakes in verse two. We judge unjustly and accept the person of the wicked.
We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus so we are to dictate the righteous judgments of God in the Earth. We should be spiritual enough recognize right from wrong, determine the will of God and what is not the will of God, and judge in accordance to righteousness. We can’t judge in accordance to righteousness if we accept the person of the wicked. The position, personality, prestige, political power, socioeconomic status of a person does not matter in the eyes of God when it comes to right and wrong. If there is one thing that will prevent us from establishing the kingdom order in the various sectors of our society, it is respecting the person of individuals. God is no respecter of person but he is a respecter of principle that shape culture.
I encourage you to continue to seek the face of God for the revelation contained in Psalm 82. T here is a rich revelation that will empower you to be the Son of God the whole earth is groaning to see.
